Reduction in gray
Modern graphite works live on reduction: one field, one line, one shadow. Modern mixed-media works with graphite for sale present compositions that capture the essential in gray.
The modern shows in renunciation: no narrative, no perspective, no trimmings. Graphite suits that, because it is plain yet knows nuances. A dark field on light paper creates tension through nothing but its position and size.

Interplay of materials
Mixed media often adds paper, paint or metal traces. They set counterpoints to the gray and keep the picture alive. The fewer elements appear, the more important it is that each sits right. Good work therefore feels almost inevitable.
Placing it at home
Modern graphite pictures suit clear rooms with little décor. Hang them far enough from other pictures so the quiet gray is not overpowered. A slim frame in black, white or natural wood is usually fitting; glass protects the delicate surface.
