Painted restraint
Modern reduction in oil feels calm and weighty at once: few shapes, but deep tones. You can find modern mixed media with oil paint for sale in the 1,000 to 2,000 euro band when clarity and material depth should come together.
Oil allows soft gradients between large fields, and modernism uses this to open space inside the picture. Additions like wax, paper or pigment powder supply skin and grain. Typical are a few hues that stay rich and warm in oil, plus an edge or a scrap of paper that structures the surface. You can tell that nothing in the picture is arbitrary, and you can settle into this balance for a long time.

With the budget in view
In this price band, originals can typically be larger and more elaborately made. A single work already shapes a room here. If needed, plan the frame into the budget.
Care and check points
Oil paint dislikes damp rooms and needs distance from radiators. Check whether the work is varnished, and ask for notes on dust protection. A raking-light photo shows relief and cracks.
