Painting with additions
A sky built from short, stacked brushstrokes only reads as light from far away, up close it stays pure paint. When you look at impressionist mixed media paintings in acrylic for sale, pay attention to how paint and applied material work together.
In these paintings the brush stays central, and acrylic supplies the bright, fast-drying tones. Torn paper, sand in the medium or textile scraps add grain to the color field and cast tiny shadows. In Impressionism especially, distance decides the impression: from two meters the dabs resolve into water, meadow or sky. Up close you see where sand, gel or paper gives the paint its grain.

Steering the light
Impressionism is about time of day and mood. A spot opposite a window lets the picture change as the light does. Side light brings out texture, while ceiling spots tend to smooth it away.
Technical questions before buying
Look at the support and the varnish: matte or satin surfaces suit acrylic, heavy gloss can swallow the dabs. Ask also whether framing is intended or whether the piece hangs frameless with painted edges.
