Brush pull and additive
Expressionist painting lives from the decision to exaggerate lines and push colors. Expressionist paintings in acrylic and mixed media for sale combine the direct brush pull with additions that give the picture body.
On canvas you can see how quickly the paint went on: edges tear open, layers shimmer through. Acrylic tolerates being mixed with sand, plaster or paper without losing its luminosity. Characteristic are strong contours, unnatural colors and an application that almost sculpts the canvas. Where acrylic meets sand or plaster, furrows appear in which shadows gather and deepen the color further.

With color in the room
Use an expressionist painting deliberately as an accent, for example on a wall that would otherwise stay empty. The main hue may echo in the room, a few traces suffice. Even light prevents harsh glare on thick acrylic.
Notes for buying
Check whether the painting is on stretcher bars or a panel, how deep it is and whether the edges are painted too. A daylight photo and a close-up of the surface show more than any description.
