Feeling in the stroke
Expressionist drawing sacrifices likeness to feeling: heads are too large, hands too long, colors or blacks too loud. Expressionist drawings for sale come in charcoal, vine charcoal and other techniques, starting under 500 euro as an entry.
The sheet speaks of fear, joy or tension without needing a story. Lines break sharply, faces are cut by hatching, rooms tilt. With charcoal this appears especially clearly, because the material breaks under pressure and leaves traces.

Hanging with distance and nerve
Expressionist sheets need space and something opposite, such as an armchair or a bench. Do not hang them too high, so people can look into the picture. A dark or natural wood frame underlines the mood.
Pointers for buying
Look closely at medium, paper and format in the description. Read whether the work is signed, and with vine charcoal ask about fixing. Especially under 500 euro, studies and small works are common.
