When the grain draws along
Wood grows, and an abstract wooden sculpture takes that growth into its lines: rings, knots and fibers run through the form as drawing. Abstract wood sculptures for sale come in oak, linden, walnut or cherry, oiled, waxed or left natural.
A curve that runs across the grain reads differently from one that follows it. Sapwood and heartwood bring two colors into play, knots become eyes or craters. Abstract wood pieces use such accidents on purpose instead of hiding them, and so stay close to the tree.

Warmth in the room
Wood feels different from stone or metal: friendly, light, a little dry. On a sideboard, a shelf or a windowsill, such a form combines easily with linen, books and plants. Dark woods look strong in front of pale walls, pale woods look fine in front of dark ones.
Care and choice
Ask about the species and the surface treatment. More pieces sit under wood as a material, and in the 1,000 to 2,000 euro band you often find hand carved one-offs. No direct radiator air, no blazing sun: that keeps the form stable.
