Granite takes every chisel stroke seriously, which is why sculptures made from it are rarely modest in ambition. Granite sculptures for sale at 1,000 to 2,000 euro belong on terrace, in hallway or in garden.
At this price level, granite sculptures from a handy boulder to a mid-sized block are conceivable. The effort lies above all in the working: the stone has to be cut, ground and often polished with diamond tools. Bush-hammered or flamed surfaces like to sit beside ground ones, so roughness and gloss complement each other. If you like it clear, choose stone with geometric severity, if looser, abstract forms.

Holding up outdoors
Granite tolerates frost, rain and sun but needs a stable foundation so it does not sink. In a garden it grows moss or patina over the years, which is part of the charm. Ask about weight, type and the condition of the underside. If you place it indoors, protect floors with felt.
