Rich and soft at the same time
Color makes the surreal believable: a turquoise sky over a pink field feels like proof, although it is none. If you want surrealist color ink photographs for sale, you are usually looking for a mood between fairy tale and fever.
Modern pigment systems can print turquoise, magenta and orange very purely without the surfaces turning hard. That suits pictures that sit between dream and reality, since the color feels real and the motif stays impossible all the same.

Bold color, quiet wall
A surreal color picture can carry a whole wall. Keep the surroundings neutral, for example in broken white or light gray. Furniture in natural wood with little pattern leaves the lead role to the picture.
What belongs in the description
Ask about the ink type, about lightfastness and whether the picture is a collage or a single shot. Edition, number and the size of the paper should be stated as well. With montages it pays to ask whether the palette was fixed once or shifts from one part of the picture to the next. Both can be appealing, but they change the effect strongly. Feel free to ask for a close-up detail.
