Cubism breaks objects into planes and shows them from several viewpoints at once: a face from the front and in profile, a guitar that fans out. Cubist paintings for sale between 5,000 and 10,000 euro are sought for pictures with construction and rhythm.
Instead of capturing a moment, cubism builds a picture out of parts. Edges cross, planes slide into each other, perspectives contradict one another. The eye assembles the form itself and experiences space as movement. The larger the canvas, the clearer the rhythm of edge, plane and counterplane becomes.

Muted colors, clear structure
Typical are earth tones, gray, ocher and blue, which do not overlay the construction. In oil paint they turn into warm, rich planes, and in oil on canvas or oil on other supports into pasty edges as well.
Presence in the room
Cubist pictures suit rooms with clear lines, whether old or new. Hang them centered, with distance from furniture, and light them evenly so the planes do not darken each other. A spot opposite the entrance or above a long piece of furniture lets the picture act as an axis of the room.
