Variety without commitment
Abstract oil painting may be anything paint can be: quiet, massive, dancing or strict. Here you can find abstract paintings in oil for sale without format or support being fixed.
Under the heading of painting, canvas, wood, paper and board lie side by side. That repays comparison: on paper lightness arises, on wood density, on canvas breadth. Painted abstractly, each support takes on a tone of its own.

Hanging by feeling
Abstract pictures forgive a lot. They can hang in a row, stand alone, alternate with photographs or sculptures. A pale background supports the colors, a dark one gives them glow. Try it with photos before you commit.
Checking the details
Note dimensions, support, signature and year of creation. Ask about varnish if the surface is glossy, and about the hanging direction when no top-bottom relation is evident. With delicate paper works glass belongs to the frame.
