One art, many roads
Painting is the wide term for everything brought to a surface with color: oil, acrylic, tempera, gouache or mixed forms, abstract or figurative. Paintings for sale between 2,000 and 5,000 euro give you free choice among techniques and styles.
The range runs from delicate watercolor-like effects to heavy, impasto oil surfaces. Some painters lay color in thin glazes, others build it thick. These differences are what make an original come alive. The listing names which technique was used in each case, and it determines care and hanging.

Discovering styles
If you are undecided about direction, approach through style: abstract painting plays with color and form, expressive and gestural pictures show movement and energy. If you simply browse first, you will quickly find what speaks to you: color, texture or motif.
Decide in front of the original
A photo can hardly show gloss, relief and depth of color. Take time to compare dimensions and technique, and ask how the picture is varnished or protected.
