Liquid, deep, unforgiving
Ink sinks into paper and canvas and leaves lines as dense and deep as almost nothing else in painting. Paintings in ink under 500 euro are for sale here, as an entry into a technique that joins drawing and color.
Ink can hardly be taken back, so every movement of the brush decides. Diluted it gives delicate veils, undiluted a rich black or strong blue. At the edge of a wet blot a fine darker line often forms, showing how the paper absorbed the liquid.

Hanging and protecting
Ink is not always lightfast, so ask about pigment ink or India ink. Works on paper belong behind glass with a mat, ideally on a wall without direct sun. That way the deep tones stay strong for years and the paper stays flat.
