Chalk that delivers color
A pastel picture under 500 euro shows how much expression lives in a stick of chalk. Pastel paintings in this price tier are for sale here, as sketches, studies or small finished pictures.
Pastel is pressed pigment, without oil and without water. It can be set on paper in minutes and deepened in layers. Soft and velvety in application, the color stays intense for years if the picture is kept dry and out of strong light.

What is possible under 500 euro
Originals at this level typically mean smaller formats, works on paper and first positions of young artists. For expressive works, Expressive and gestural is a good place to start.
A frame with air
Pastel needs glass and distance so the chalk does not cling to the pane. A mat of acid-free board takes care of both. A slim wood frame in a light tone stays modest and supports the picture.
