Paper is more forgiving of mixed techniques than people expect, since it takes water, glue, chalk and printing ink without resisting. Mixed media on paper is for sale here in a price band meant for more than a quick study.
A piece may start with watercolor, gain structure through collage and receive its accents from colored pencil or pastel. The paper holds that sequence together. Its weight and surface decide how much moisture it can take before it starts to buckle. It is especially rewarding when you can trace how a sheet came about. You see what came first, what was covered over, and where material was scraped away again. That history is part of the pleasure.

Format and presence
In this part of the market, works on paper often come in sizes that can hold a wall by themselves. Look closely at the details: edges, overlapping layers, places where material was built up.
What to check
Ask about the paper stock and the adhesive, because both determine how the sheet ages. A mat of museum board protects against acid, and UV-filtering glass protects against fading colors.
