Many processes, one object
Metal in mixed media allows layers no other support knows: they can be etched, welded, painted and patinated. Mixed media works in metal from 1,000 to 2,000 euro are for sale as pieces in which several crafts meet.
A work may consist of cut sheet, glued paper, pigment and wax. Each material reacts to metal differently: paper cockles, wax beads off, paint holds only on sanded areas. Good pieces show that this was mastered, in clean edges and even application.

More format, more wall planning
The 1,000 to 2,000 euro tier often brings larger pieces that need space and can be heavy. Plan for anchors, hooks or rails, and ask about the back. A straight, reinforced back points to sturdy construction.
Care
Do not treat open metals with water or cleaners, a dry cloth is enough. Lacquer is more robust, but it scratches too. If a patina is wanted, choose a dry spot where the change proceeds slowly and evenly.
