Relief from powder and water
Plaster is a mineral, matte white material that swallows light softly and shapes shadow sharply. Mixed media with plaster is for sale if you like reliefs and textures you almost want to touch.
Plaster is mixed, applied, troweled or cast and sets in minutes. Artists incise it, press objects into it or paint on the dry surface. Combined with paper, acrylic or sand, it produces pictures that read in height and depth.

Weight and sensitivity
Plaster is heavier than cardboard and more fragile than wood. Edges break easily, and damp does harm. Ask in the description about support, weight and frame. Hang the work in a dry room and always carry it with both hands.
Light makes the relief speak
