Darkness as form
Modern charcoal drawing gives up likeness and looks for weight: black bars, smudging zones, edges of light that the eraser pulls out of the dark. Modern charcoal drawings for sale start at under 500 euro, also with vine charcoal.
Where older drawing outlines objects, modern charcoal work builds with mass. A heavy bar tips against a delicate cloud, a rectangle is broken open with a thumb. The charcoal stays a visible material: grain, dust and smear are wanted, not hidden.

Weight for light walls
A dark charcoal sheet gives a bright room depth without filling it. One sheet above the seating area or at the end of a hallway is enough. A frame with glass and a spacer, plus a mat in cool white, keeps dust off the pane and gives the surface tension.
Fixed, flat, well packed
Ask about fixing, paper weight and edge condition, and request photos in raking light. Charcoal is delicate, so flat shipping with an interleaf matters. In the tier under 500 euro there are smaller formats and studies.
