Between pen stroke and brush trace

Ink draws sharp or runs in wet paper to clouds, while oil paint gathers at edges and stays glossy for a long time. On one sheet both qualities can be played against each other. The result is a drawing that at the same time looks like painting.

A strong accent
On a clear wall with little decoration, such a sheet acts like an exclamation mark. Choose a frame that keeps the paper visible, perhaps with a shadow gap. Light from the side makes brush and pen traces visible.
Ask about oil on paper
Oil paint on paper needs time to dry through and a ground that protects the paper. Ask about both, and about the signature. With ink, a note on lightfastness is worthwhile. Detail shots of the edges reveal much about quality.
