Charcoal on the street
Street culture, comics and pop aesthetics meet a material in charcoal that really comes from the academy studio. Urban charcoal drawings for sale are found under charcoal or in the tier under 500 euro, for anyone who likes that contrast.
The black of charcoal recalls graffiti, screen prints and stencils. An urban artist uses it for striking faces, canyons of buildings, or signs and arrows that look sprayed onto a wall. Pop often arrives through repetition: motifs appear several times on the sheet, slightly shifted and smudged to different darkness.

Between loft and stairwell
Such sheets cope with rough walls, brick or concrete as well as white-painted rooms. Slim black frames underline the graphic quality. Because charcoal stays delicate, the work belongs behind glass, not in a damp kitchen or on a wall people often brush against.
Mixing with other things
Urban charcoal sheets cope well with posters, photos and plants around them. A stack of leaning frames on a ledge is a relaxed alternative to hanging. Charcoal stays safe only under glass.
