Hyperreal, yet handmade
When a sheet of paper looks like a photograph yet carries every trace of a hand, you are standing in front of a photorealistic pencil drawing. You can buy photorealistic pencil drawings for sale here, whether as a sketch, in the range under 500 euro or above.
The magic lies in the ratio of effort to impression: skin pores, metal gloss and texture arise from countless fine layers. Graphite has the advantage here that it can be dosed finely and keeps a slight sheen even in dark passages. No wonder many take these works for photographs at first, until they step close and spot the delicate grain of the graphite.

Look before buying
Ask for detail photos in which you can see the paper’s structure. This helps to tell a drawing from a photocopy and gives an idea of how cleanly it was made.
Frame and wall
A clean, flat frame with a mat keeps the subject at the center. Hang the sheet so light falls in from the side rather than straight on.
