The arm draws too
Gestural drawings have something of handwriting about them: you see at once that a body was in motion here. You can buy expressive gestural pencil drawings for sale here, as quick sketches or at the level under 500 euro.
The stroke comes not from the wrist but from shoulder and arm. So arcs grow generous, pressure changes become clear, and lines are sometimes nearly torn. The pencil answers directly to every change of speed. Sometimes a single sweep across the sheet carries everything, and that very decisiveness is what makes the work readable.

Energy in the room
A gestural drawing brings movement into calm rooms. Over a sofa or on a stair wall it works like an exclamation mark without turning loud. A white frame and plenty of air around it let the dynamics stand.
To keep in mind
Soft graphite smudges easily. Have the sheet framed under glass and ask whether it has been fixed, since fixative changes the sheen.
