Finished and yet open
A gestural drawing is neither a sketch nor a painting but a completed sheet in which speed and decision stay visible. Expressive drawings under 500 euro for sale bring a forceful line to your wall.
In a gestural drawing every line stands with intent. Even so the sheet does not feel smooth, because the hand has taken liberties: overlaps, repetitions, thickenings. That gives the picture tension.

Interplay with furniture
Forceful lines cope with plain furniture and little decoration. As the only picture on a wall they have the greatest effect. A dark frame condenses the sheet, a light one opens it.
To check
Gestural drawings are often generous in size on thick paper. Look for creases and ripples, ask about material and signature, and plan on glass with spacing. Ask about format too. Big gestures need distance: a sheet the size of a poster unfolds differently from one the size of a postcard, and both have their place in a home.
