Many media, many handwritings
Drawing is the original form of art on paper: a stylus, a surface, an intention. Drawings for sale come in ink, oil paint, graphite and charcoal, from the entry point of under 500 euro up to large sheets.
Whether wet ink, opaque oil paint on paper, fine graphite or dusty vine charcoal: each medium produces a different line. Added to this are styles ranging from abstract through gestural to modern. Anyone starting a collection of drawings can compare handwritings here and soon notices which line feels closest.

Paper as a stage
A framed drawing works only as well as its surroundings: a mat gives calm, glass protects, a clear wall lets the line come through. Do not place the sheet in direct sun, and leave enough distance from furniture.
Watch the details given
Check technique, paper, dimensions and signature. With oil paint on paper ask about priming and drying, with ink about lightfastness, with vine charcoal about fixing. A photo of the back shows traces of earlier framing.
