Rehearsal for a picture
An abstract sketch is an experiment on paper: a shape is set down, dropped, overlaid. If you value the moment when an idea is still undecided, you will find abstract sketches for sale here that keep that moment alive.
Unlike a finished work, the abstract sketch shows how composition is searched for. Circles, bundles of lines and hatching stand side by side, with pauses in between. Drawn in pencil, the sheet feels delicate, in ink more decided.

Small, but not casual
Such sheets have their place where you stop in passing: hallway, shelf, workspace. Several sketches in the same frame size make a calm row. A mat with a large border gives picture presence even to a small sheet.
Simple to compare
If you are looking for a first original, under 500 euro often has suitable works on paper. Note the paper, technique, signature and whether the sketch was once part of a pad. That explains its format and margins.
