Reduced bodies
Modern bronze does without pathos and shows smooth planes, precise edges and a patina that stays calm. Modern bronze sculptures for sale are cast in editions or as one-offs, often with reduced bodily forms.
Modern bronze casting lets go of detail: a head becomes an oval, a torso an arch, a couple two lines that touch. The surface can be mirror polished or velvety dark patinated. The result feels archaic and contemporary at once.

Patina and room
A dark patina stands out against pale walls and wood, brighter tones make the bronze an accent in the room. Direct light brings up reflections that travel with the viewer’s position. Beside other metals bronze looks calmer and denser.
Papers and edition
Bronze is usually cast in numbered editions, with the number next to the signature on the foot. Ask about the foundry, the weight and a certificate. A wax film protects the patina and renews the sheen.
