Sculpting is a physical business, since a block is brought into form with strength and patience. Sculpted works for sale between 1,000 and 2,000 euro typically mean wood, stone and clay in manageable sizes.
Two roads lead to a sculpture: you remove material, as in carving and hewing, or you add it, as in modeling. Both leave traces that a photo can only hint at. When you look, ask yourself whether the surface was pointed, rasped or smoothed.

If you like it expressive, look at expressive and gestural work, and if you want calm volumes, at abstract forms. Cast or welded metal is a third option when you want it cooler and sharper.
