Craft with weight
Sculpting demands physical effort, knowledge of tools and an eye for proportions you first have to see in the block. Sculpted works for sale between 2,000 and 5,000 euro come in stone, wood or metal, often as one-offs with visible handwork.
Unlike casting, direct carving keeps everything on the original: every chip removed is final. You can tell by edges made with mallet and chisel, by file marks or by the warmth of oiled surfaces. In this price band a confident handling of material and proportion often shows.
