How color reaches the sheet
Color printing takes planning: a separate plate, stamp, or pass for each hue, and everything has to line up exactly. Anyone who wants to buy color prints for sale is often after exactly this interplay of layered tones.
Multicolor prints come from printing one layer over another. Where two tones overlap, a third appears, and the order decides whether it feels cool or warm. Registration, meaning how well the passes line up, is part of the craft. How many colors were involved is often visible at the paper’s edge, where registration marks can remain.

Color in the room
A colored print enlivens restrained rooms without demanding as much surface as a painting. Choose a frame in a tone that occurs in the image, and the sheet looks tied in. The same goes for colored walls: a print in related tones calms, one in complementary colors adds tension.
