A visual language of the present
Modern photography works through reduction: clean lines, cropped subjects, surfaces that hold each other up. If you plan to buy modern photography for sale between 1,000 and 2,000 euro, this segment often brings large-format editions.
In photography, modern usually means a deliberate crop instead of an overview. Architecture, everyday objects or landscapes are sharpened to form, contrast and structure. A good print shows this in fine tonal values, and you never miss the edge of the picture. Modern does not have to mean cold: light, shadow and one small irregularity in the motif often give these images an unexpectedly warm note.

Where a modern photo fits
This visual language suits glass, concrete, pale wood or steel furniture because it picks up material and line. Hang a large format alone with air on all sides, or line up two motifs on one exact axis.
Color, paper, framing
Paper type and mounting decide a lot. Color photographs gain from matte, non-reflective glass, black-and-white work from deep blacks. The description should state size, printing process and edition.
