When reality becomes surface
Abstract photography in larger format works like a painting made of light: surfaces, gradients and structures that no longer name an object. You can find abstract photographs for sale at 1,000 to 2,000 euro here, with plenty of room for your own interpretation.
The photographer moves so close, or pulls away so strongly, that only color, line and rhythm remain. The larger the print, the more the surface carries. On good paper gradients stay soft and edges clean.

Placing it generously
Abstract pictures in this price tier demand space around them. Above a sofa, on a free wall in a hallway or in a studio room they come into effect. A white background and a plain frame let the picture speak.
Narrowing the selection
Filtered by color you will find color photographs, by process works with ink. Ask about edition, paper type and signature. In weighing up, it helps to ask how much calm you want. Delicate gradients soothe, hard contrasts enliven. Both exist in abstract form, and both look markedly different in the larger format than on screen.
