Design first
Modern photography cares about order: lines, planes, rhythm and a crop that sits exactly. You can find modern photographs for sale at 500 to 1,000 euro here, in formats that suit tidy apartments.
A modern picture does not ask what is to be seen but how it was arranged. Stairs, windows, horizons and shadows become building blocks of a composition. The motif stays sober and clear, without dramatic effects.

A counterpart to furniture
With simple furniture, light wood and steel this style almost fits by itself. Hang the picture with distance from the ceiling and leave air around the frame. Several prints of the same format hang neatly in a row.
Selection aids
Decide first between color and black and white, then by material, such as works with ink or classic photo prints. Check dimensions, edition and signature. Modern pictures benefit from exact hanging. Take a spirit level and measure the distances to furniture before you drill. With clear geometry especially, any deviation catches the eye immediately.
