Thick, dark, direct

Expressionist oil dominates any wall. It suits rooms where conversations take place and tolerates furniture with clear form. Do not hang it too close to other pictures, so its energy does not dissipate.
Before buying
Ask about the thickness of the layers, drying through and varnish. Thick passages are sensitive to knocks. A sturdy stretcher and a firm hanging system are a must with large formats. Notes on transport make sense too. With large formats, clarify beforehand how the picture will get through doors and stairwells.
