Precise impossibility
Surrealism paints what dreams invent, and does so with the exactness of a photograph. Surreal acrylic pictures for sale under 500 euro bring puzzles into the house in a manageable format.
Floating things, fused bodies, landscapes with wrong proportions: the surreal works all the more strongly the more soberly it is painted. Acrylic helps with fine, smooth gradients, for example for skies, and with crisp edges where things collide abruptly. Surreal scenes often live from contrasts in scale: a tiny figure before an enormous sky, an object too big for the room. On a small format this contrast becomes especially clear and the scene almost toy-like.

Conversation piece on the wall
A surreal picture draws you into looking, precisely because it does not explain everything. It suits a study, a stairwell or a spot beside a bookshelf.
Notes on small formats
Under 500 euro, smaller canvases or works on paper are generally on offer. Examine the details as closely as you can and read in the description whether a varnish was applied.
