Swing, drips, traces
Gestural painting wants to show movement: the brushstroke itself is the subject. Buying expressive acrylic pictures under 500 euro means getting a bit of that energy in small format. Look for these paintings for sale.
With broad brushes, palette knives or even bare hands, acrylic is pulled across the canvas. It dries so fast that drips, splashes and prints stay as they are. An entire picture can consist of a few decisive gestures. If you are after energy in small format, watch for traces that look like movement: drips, streaks, scratches, prints. They reveal how spontaneously the picture came about. A calm frame sets a counterweight.

Strong effect in a small space
Even in a small format a gestural picture looks powerful if given room. Hang it alone on a wall, for instance beside a window, and give it a calm surrounding.
What to expect at this price level
Under 500 euro, small to medium canvases and works on paper are common. Both are well suited to trying out bold color combinations.
