Hard meets soft
Enamel often shows up in mixed-media pieces as a glossy counterpart to paper, sand or fabric. If you want mixed-media paintings with enamel for sale, you are looking for pictures you do not just view head-on but study from the side.
Beside rough cardboard or glued-on fabric, a lacquer-smooth enamel zone looks like a window. Some artists let paint run across attached parts, others set it like a seal on a collage. This creates contrasts the eye notices at once.

Wall effect in raking light
Mixed technique lives from relief. When light falls at an angle across the wall, shadows appear and the enamel lenses pick up highlights. A spot next to a window suits such works especially well.
Questions before buying
The more materials are involved, the more important it is to know whether everything is firmly attached. Ask about weight and the hanging system, and about a sealant over the enamel. With mixed techniques the back says a lot: a sturdy support, clean edges and a firm hanger show that the work was built for the wall. A short list of materials belongs there as well.
