Canvas and mass of paint
On stretched canvas abstract oil painting unfolds its full body: masses of paint, gradients and structures carried by the weave. Abstract paintings in oil on canvas are for sale here, in many sizes and moods.
Abstract painting uses the canvas as a resonating surface. Brush and knife leave traces in the weave, paint gathers in hollows and forms ridges. A relief results that catches light and looks different over the course of the day.

Placing it generously
Abstract canvases look best with air around them. Count on a wall section at least one and a half times the width of the picture. Hang the piece at eye level and check whether window light creates reflections on the varnish.
Frame and back
Many abstract canvases hang without a frame. Then the sides should be neatly painted or finished neutrally. A floater frame gives extra hold. On the back, label, hanging hardware and signature help with placing the work.
