When material is the motif
Abstract mixed media detaches from the object and negotiates surface, rhythm and material. You can find abstract works for sale from 1,000 to 2,000 euro here, from bas-relief to mixes with ink.
In abstract works there is no depicted thing to explain what you see. Friction, curvature, gloss and roughness speak instead. A wood fragment can sit beside a color field, an ink streak can run over a layer of plaster. The effect arises in the interplay.

Think big, hang calmly
Abstract works at this price level usually have some size so the materials can unfold. Hang them at eye level and leave room all around. A picture on wood or with wooden parts looks especially sculptural in warm light.
For comparing
With no motif to orient by, it helps to look at several works side by side: does the surface feel balanced? Where is the weight? Ask for dimensions with depth in the description, because reliefs can stand out several centimeters from the wall.
