Form from wood
Abstract wood works need no motif, because grain, edge and color already say enough. You can find abstract mixed media with wood for sale from 1,000 to 2,000 euro if you put material and form ahead of a scene.
Wooden panels are cut, stacked, stained or covered with paint. Where the grain shows through, the abstract surface gains depth and rhythm. Metal, paper or traces of paint set accents. Typical are fields of paint, burn marks, cut edges and pieces of different wood. The eye follows the grain like a line and finds in the edges places where shadows gather and structure the surface.

For originals between these amounts, larger panels, elaborately worked surfaces and a formal language of their own are usual. Take time to view several works side by side.
Light and wall
Abstract wood works tolerate raking light, which stresses the structure. A wall in white or natural tones frames them calmly. Ask whether the wood has been sealed and how the work is hung.
