Rock as painting ground
Paint on stone joins two kinds of time: the moment of the brushstroke and the millions of years of the rock. Painted mixed media with natural stone is for sale if you value painting with weight.
Marble, slate and sandstone have pores, veins and spots to which paint reacts differently. Some painters work against the structure, some with it. Glazes let the grain show through, opaque layers form a second skin. That produces pictures which change as you step closer.

Plan for weight
Even thin stone slabs are heavier than canvas. Check dimensions, weight and type of hanging and ask about the wall construction before you drill. A wooden frame eases hanging and protects the edges, which are more delicate than the surface.
