Contrast of surfaces
Charcoal on a graphite base or graphite with charcoal: two worlds of grey that complement each other. You can buy charcoal drawings with graphite for sale here, including in styles such as graphic and illustrative or impressionism.
Charcoal swallows light, graphite throws it back. Where both lie on one sheet, zones of depth and shimmer arise that mix anew with every movement in front of the picture. That gives the work something alive that a photo hardly captures.

Easy to frame
Because charcoal rubs off, framing behind glass matters. Have a spacer inserted so pigment does not cling to the glass. The sheet should be stored upright or flat or in a frame, never rolled.
Paper details
Among the details on the work, paper weight and format are most important. Charcoal needs a paper with tooth so the pigment holds and the sheet does not lose material while hanging.
