An iconic symbol of wine culture reimagined through light and metal
Original artwork description
“Wine Bottle 38-25” is a unique contemporary sculpture by French artist Philippe Buil, transforming an everyday object into a refined and poetic work of art.
Inspired by the cultural significance of the wine bottle—symbol of sharing, time, and memory—this piece reinterprets its familiar shape through the artist’s signature steel lace technique. The structure is delicately openworked, allowing light to pass through and reveal both the interior and exterior of the form, creating a sense of breath and transparency.
The upper part of the sculpture features a chrome finish, introducing reflective highlights that interact dynamically with the surrounding environment. This contrast between the raw, organic steel texture and the polished chrome surface gives the piece a striking visual tension—both industrial and elegant at once.
Balancing figuration and abstraction, the bottle appears almost eroded, as if shaped by time itself. It becomes more than an object—it is a memory, a trace, an evocation of moments shared and experienced.
Entirely handmade, each sculpture is one-of-a-kind, shaped through an intuitive process where control and chance coexist. “Wine Bottle 38-25” is a perfect statement piece for wine lovers, collectors, and contemporary design enthusiasts.
