Architecture and grid
Modern photography works with clear edges, grids and surfaces that the eye sorts at once. Modern ink prints from 500 to 1,000 euro are among the photographs for sale that give a room structure.
Modern subjects often show facades, stairwells or road markings. In a pigment print straight lines stay sharp, and gray tones blend cleanly without graininess. The eye finds the order of the picture immediately.

Strict frame, quiet wall
A thin frame in oak or aluminum matches the clarity of such pictures. A series of two or three sheets at the same height reads like a sentence with rhythm, while a single large sheet works like an exclamation mark.
Checklist for the sheet
Look at the edition size, the numbering and the width of the white margin. Ask whether the picture arrives framed or unframed, and measure the wall before you settle on a format. The strength of such pictures lies in the repetition of forms, so it pays to keep the wall around them free of patterns. Also ask about the paper used and its surface.
