Independent positions
Where no style name fits, the quality of the painting decides. Oil paintings without style assignment from 1,000 to 2,000 euro are for sale here, with mature formats and a handwriting of their own.
Painting that belongs to no school often grows from personal themes: a place, a memory, a question put to color. Oil gives these concerns room, because the technique allows corrections and fine nuances. So a picture grows layer by layer out of the work.

Look calmly, then decide
Without a keyword only the impression remains. View the pictures in daylight, ideally over several days. What will not let go of you probably belongs on your wall. Larger formats in this band have enough surface to show character.
Details that count
Read dimensions, support and year of creation. Notes on varnish, signature and hanging round out the picture. If documentation matters to you, ask for a certificate of authenticity, which often comes with originals of this size.
