Color as movement
Expressive painting holds on to feeling and movement rather than objects. Anyone looking at expressive and gestural gouache paintings for sale wants sheets that radiate energy.
Gouache can be applied quickly and broadly without the paint running. That suits gesture: a powerful stroke stays put, a second one on top partly covers the first. Layers of traces result, and you retrace them as you look.

Hang with some distance
Gestural pictures need room. A free wall or a room with little furniture lets them speak. A frame with a wide, light mat strengthens the energy of the stroke. The selection also includes gouache with watercolor and works under 500 euro.
Energy needs room
Gestural sheets work best alone on a wall or as a pair, not in a dense hang. Give the frame some air around furniture and doors. Then the tempo of the brushwork comes through, and the colors do not clash.
