Dream logic in matte
Surreal scenes work best when they are painted calmly and clearly. Anyone seeking surreal gouache paintings for sale will find pictures in which matte fields of color make the impossible believable.
Gouache covers evenly and has no gloss, which gives scenes a faraway feel. Objects float, shadows fall in the wrong direction, proportions tip. The material plays along: it makes surfaces look smooth, almost as if cut from paper.

Fitting your rooms
Surreal sheets draw the eye and therefore do well where people sit or wait for a long time. With a mat and glass they stay protected from dust and streaks. Works of this kind also exist under 500 euro.
Reality and riddle
Surreal gouache is especially striking when the subject is everyday and just one detail is off. The eye searches, finds and does not settle. As you look, ask yourself what story the picture tells you, since that is what keeps it alive longest at home.
