Impression instead of description
On paper, impressionism shows its lightest side: colors shimmer, contours dissolve, a moment is held. You can find impressionist paintings on paper under 500 euro for sale here if you like moods.
Impressionism works with short brush strokes that set colors side by side instead of mixing them. On paper this works especially well, because watercolor, pastel or gouache dry quickly and stay fresh. Gardens, beaches, city light and meadows remain popular occasions.

Fitting for bright rooms
Bright, airy rooms where daylight enters without obstacles strengthen the impression. A white frame with a cream-colored mat supports the softness. In bedrooms and kitchens, this genre creates a friendly mood.
Asking about condition
Pastel and gouache are sensitive to abrasion and damp. Ask whether the sheet was fixed, and hang it behind glass. If photos show waves or foxing, ask for more detail. View the sheet in different light, since impressionist dabs of color change noticeably between morning and evening.
