Water as a collaborator
A surreal watercolor lets dream images float: colors run, forms dissolve and reappear differently. Surrealist watercolors between 500 and 1,000 euro for sale come as large sheets with plenty of white space.
In watercolor, water decides where paint flows. Surreal painters use that for creatures lost in haze, or for landscapes that mirror themselves. Chance takes part in the design, and the hand only steers it. Where the paper stays bare, light seems to come out of nowhere.

White space as part of the picture
On large sheets, unpainted paper plays a supporting role. It gives the fantasy air. A mat with a wide margin underlines that and keeps the sheet floating on the wall. For a bedroom or a library, such a sheet is a quiet choice.
Paper and protection
Ask about paper weight, sheet format, and frame build. Acid-free material and UV glazing protect the sheet in the long run. It is better to avoid direct sun and damp rooms. Ask about fixing as well if pencils or chalk were used.
