Opaque color, classical calm
Gouache goes on opaque and velvety matte, which suits the calm modeling of classical subjects. Classical gouache paintings for sale show how figure, still life and landscape are built with careful composition.
Gouache is watercolor with added chalk and pigment: it covers, dries matte and can be built up layer by layer. That fits classical picture ideas where proportion, lighting and a constructed pictorial space count. Highlights are not left blank but added last, so transitions look soft and the surfaces feel velvety.

Behind glass on the wall
Gouache almost always hangs behind glass, usually on paper or board. A mat with plenty of white space gives a classical composition the stillness of a small cabinet piece. Keep direct sun off the wall, since pigments feel UV light over the years; soft light from the side shows the matte surface at its best.
What to check first
Ask in the listing about the support and the framing, because gouache on paper needs acid-free mounting. If you are starting on a smaller budget, look at gouache works under 500 euro; you can compare the medium more broadly under Material Gouache.
