Velvet matte, not gloss
Gouache is opaque, matte and velvety, and in photorealism it creates surfaces that recall printing yet are painted by hand. Photorealist gouache paintings for sale appeal if you like matte color and fine handwork.
Gouache is made of pigment and binder with a filler, which produces the matte surface. Photorealist gouaches therefore look calm, almost like screen printing, except that every area is brushwork and tiny irregularities reveal the hand.

Small format, big effect
Gouaches are often made on paper or board in handy formats. Hang them as a single piece at eye level or in a tight row to show the detail work side by side and allow comparisons.
Protection and choice
Gouache is sensitive to moisture and abrasion. Glass with a mat protects the surface, while sun attacks the color. In the description, ask about paper type and whether the sheet is mounted. If you want to collect several small gouaches, aim for matching frames so the wall stays calm.
