Spontaneous and layered
Mixed media makes gestural drawing many-voiced: paint, paper, wax and pencil respond to each other. You can find expressive mixed-media paintings with pencil for sale here if you look for energy and material together.
The artist often works without a plan, tears paper, scrapes paint away and draws into the wet layer. The pencil becomes a tool for incisions, notes and gestures. The picture thus gets a history of its making that you can read.

Carefully into the light
Such mixed pieces tolerate neither blazing sun nor heating air. Hang them on a wall with subdued daylight. For reliefs, a shadow-box frame makes sense, one that rules out touching without squeezing the layers.
Clarifying what is behind it
Ask about the materials, about how the pencil was fixed and whether the piece should be sealed before framing. A clear answer eases the decision and gives confidence about care. For mixed techniques, it is worth asking about drying time before you have the piece framed behind glass.
